Megan Thee Stallion’s first time Grammy appearance had the 26-year-old rapper making history and teasing Hot Girl Summer Part 2.
Speaking with E! on the red carpet prior to the 63rd Grammy awards, Megan Thee Stallion dressed in a tangerine Dolce & Gabbana dress teased new music on the way. “I will say, ya’ll be ready for a Hot Girl Summer Part 2.”
Megan when on to win Best New Artist and would also go on to make history with Beyoncé. The two became the first pair of women to win the Best Rap Performance for their remix of Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” hit. Megan and Beyoncé topped DaBaby, Nipsey Hussle and BigSean, Jack Harlow, Pop Smoke, and Lil Baby. Megan would initially react by screaming in excitement, then thanked God, her grandmother, mother, and Beyoncé. “I love ya’ll for just believing in me, hotties.”
Adding to her excitement, Megan would also tweet the following, “I’m so excited. Sometimes I’m in disbelief. I cannot believe I’m this girl from Houston who really made it. Me and my mom used to always talk about me being at the Grammys, and she’d tell me that I’m going to win a Grammy.”
Capping off the night Megan performed the hit single with “WAP” with Cardi B. The song’s chorus was slightly altered because it was broadcast on a national network, but the performance lived up to the hype. Earlier in the evening Cardi congratulated Megan for her Grammy win, “Congrats @theestallion .You deserve it!”
