Conway Calls Out “Gatekeeping” NY DJ’s, Funkmaster Flex Responds
Conway calls out Funkmaster Flex and other “old head” New York DJ’s prompting a response from the Hot 97 DJ.
Going on Instagram Live was Conway who decided to call out older New York DJ’s and suggested they “move out the way.” “New York, in my opinion, man, you gotta get them old ni**as up out the way. Like, Flex and them ni**as, man. Them gatekeepers that y’all got up there, man, that’s trying to dictate like who, you know what I’m saying? Like c’mon bruh,” Conway said as he claimed to love Hot 97 but urged for them “weirdo” DJ’s to go away.
Not only did Funkmaster Flex respond, but he shared the Conway’s IG video on his Instagram. With the video clip, Flex also provided a lengthy caption, “HAHAHA! HUH? 😂😂😂😂 WHY DO I GET ON THE NERVES OF MULTI PLATINUM / WORLD WIDE TOURING ARTIST LIKE GRISELDA? MANAGED BY ROCKNATION AND SIGNED TO EMINEM / INTERSCOPE? IM OLD.. OVER THE HILL… IRRELEVANT… PLUS IM NOT IN TUNE WITH THE NEW GENERATION! 🤷🏽♂️ MY SUPPORT IS PRETTY MUCH NOT NEEDED? 🤷🏽♂️😂😂😂😂😂 WHY DO I MAKE SO MANY PEOPLE SO UPSET?”
Conway had a reply of his own, as he dropped the following in the comments section, “That’s exactly my point lol everything u stated in this post, which most was false, we did all that WITHOUT RADIO my ni**a, WITHOUT ni**as like you, so why are u needed again??? Lol you’re service’s are not needed no more OL timer… artists can now get rich without u ni**as, like I did 🤷🏾♂️ again stop me when I’m wrong.”
But, Flex was not done as he added, “YOU AND YOUR TEAM HAVE HAD A FEATURE FROM JAYZ, EMINEM, LIL WAYNE, JCOLE, JADAKISS, TRAVIS SCOTT, FRENCH MONTANNA AND MORE????? WASNT U ON KANYE / DONDA ALBUM?” Flex wrote in the caption. “YOUR A 40 PLUS “BARS RAPPER” SORRY LYRICIST THAT HAS HAD EVERY RESOURCE POSSIBLE! IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR “CAREER” AS OF TODAY?
