Vince McMahon’s Shocking Return To Friday Night Smackdown
Vince McMahon, former CEO of WWE, shocked the Minnesota crowd on hand as he kicked off Friday night Smackdown.
This past Friday night Smackdown (June17), was not your ordinary episode. Along with Riddle facing off against Roman Reigns for the very first time (and last after losing to the Trible chief), was a special and rare appearance of Vince McMahon.
Many within the wrestling industry were in shock. Vince McMahon has recently stepped down as CEO and chairman of the WWE, because of misconduct allegations. Vince stepping down is normal practice, as he is facing ongoing investigation is determining the validity of a former company employee’s claim that McMahon agreed to pay them a $3 million settlement to keep quiet about an affair.
“It’s a privilege as always to stand before you here tonight,” McMahon told the crowd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. “I’m here to simply remind you of the four words we just saw. What we call the WWE signature. Those four words are ‘then,’ ‘now,’ ‘forever,’ and the most important word is ‘together.'”
It appears Vince is attempting to keep stockholders and WWE fans in good spirits and preserve WWE’s image, as negative press surrounding the allegations continues to circulate. “Welcome to Smackdown!,” Vince closed out his brief appearance as he walked away with his signature theme song ‘No Chance In Hell.’
Prior to his shocking appearance on Smackdown, McMahon addressed the allegations via a statement, “I have pledged my complete cooperation to the investigation by the Special Committee, and I will do everything possible to support the investigation. I have also pledged to accept the findings and outcome of the investigation, whatever they are.”
McMahon’s daughter, Stephanie, will serve as the interim CEO and chairwoman.
