Ye, previously known as Kanye West, appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored where he quoted Tupac Shakur’s lyrics about going to war.
After his controversial interview on Drink Champs, Ye has been facing backlash and has even lost his partnership with Balenciaga. According to Ye, he is all about freedom of speech, although many believe there are limits.
During his one hour plus interview with Piers Morgan, Ye revealed the reason why he is feared and advice he took from Tupac’s lyrics. “My dad called me and said the thing that the left fears about Ye, that makes me the most dangerous is that I’m rich and that’s the point. Tupac told me back in the days, you got to get your money right and then you go to war. So, I’m going to war,” Ye explained.
Ye is referring to “Against All Odds,” Tupac’s last song on his iconic Makaveli album. “I just remember what you told me, You said don’t go to war unless I got my money right, I got my money right now, now I want war,” says Tupac on the outro.
Tupac’s lyrics were in response to Jimmy Henchmen, who Shakur believed was part of his 1994 shooting which left Tupac with 5-bullet wounds and robbed of his jewelry. According to Napoleon, former Outlawz member, he recalls the message sent by Henchmen when he appeared on Cam Capone News this past summer. “I was there when Jimmy Henchman sent the message. Big Stretch came and said, “Jimmy Henchmen said if you don’t got your money right, you don’t want to go to war,” said Napoleon.
“21-gun salute, one love to my true thug n*****
(Outlaw! Outlaw! Outlaw!)
21-gun salute to my n***** that die in the line of duty
Representin’ to the fullest, bein’ soldiers with military minds
That play the rules of the game, 21-gun salute
I salute you, my n*****, stay strong
I ride for you, I rhyme for you, I roll for you, it’s all for you
To all you b****-made n*****, I’m comin’ for you
Against all odds, I don’t care who the f*** you is
You touch me, I’m at you
I know you motherf***ers didn’t think I forgot
Hell nah, I ain’t forgot, n****
I just remember what you told me
You said don’t go to war unless I got my money right
I got my money right now, now I want war,” Tupac (Against All Odds)
