Nicki Minaj was not holding back at the her Essence Festival performance where she appeared to diss Kanye West on stage.
It was all good as Nicki performed many of her hits such as “Do We Have A Problem,” “We Go Up,” “Did It On ’em,” and “Beez in the Trap.” But things quickly turned left when Nicki’s DJ decided to play Kanye’s 2010 hit “Monster.”
The star-studded track produced by Kanye West, features Ye, Rick Ross, Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj. The queen was last to bless the track, but most certainly did not disappoint. “Pull up in the monster, automobile gangsta / With a bad bitch that came from Sri Lanka / Yeah, I’m in that Tonka, color of Willy Wonka / You could be the king, but watch the queen conquer,” Nicki rapped on “Monster.”
Putting a stop to the record, Nicki Minaj claimed she is a “monster” but also stated, “We don’t f**K with clowns.” She quickly switched gears and shouted out New Orleans. From there, she introduced Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman and Lil Wayne as her special guests for the set. They performed “#1 Stunna,” “Seeing Green,” “High School,” “Truffle Butter” and “A Milli.”
There’s no telling yet why Nicki Minaj appeared to have dissed Kanye West on stage at the Essence Festival. Social media has been in a frenzy ever since the video was shared and gone viral. Many IG users suggested Nicki is upset Kanye West recorded a song with Cardi B on “Hot Sh*t.” Perhaps West declined recording with Nicki recently, but dropped a verse on Cardi’s latest single. Others were in support of Nicki and agreed that Kanye has been a clown.
