Nipsey Hussle will receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame star on his 37th birthday, proving that the Marathon definitely continues.
The entertainment world will recognize the achievements of the late Nipsey Hussle in the way of a star on the prestigious Walk of Fame. Taking place on Monday, August 15th, the star will officially be on presentation at 11.30 PST. Ironically, this will all take place on Nipsey’s 37th birthday.
Born in Los Angeles, Nipsey Hussle, real name Ermias Asghedo, made a name for himself in the mixtape game. His mixtape content attracted big names and following, including Jay-Z, who bought many copies of his last mixtape. Furthermore, in 2018, he released Victory Lap, his major-label debut album, which earned him his first Grammy nomination.
Tragically, Hussle was fatally wounded in a 2019 shooting outside his Marathon clothing store. In July 2022, the court found Eric Holder guilty of the first-degree murder of Nipsey Hussle. Sentencing is due later this year.
In addition, the announcement of a star on the Walk of Fame comes after the Los Angeles metro station revealed that they would be naming a brand new station honoring him. The stop will serve the Hyde Park K-Line and is to be located in Nipsey Hussle Square. City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson said, “From Slauson and all the way to Vernon, you will see world-class pieces of art, celebrating the history and the legacy of African American people… Everybody who comes to L.A. and rides the train out of the airport is gonna see it.”
Nipsey Hussle will also join other Hip Hop legends to have their name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In addition to Nipsey, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and 50 Cent are some of the names representing the world of Hip Hop on the Walk of Fame.
