Nicki Minaj Explains Why She Almost Didn’t Collab With Coi Leray
Nicki Minaj and Coi Leray have a new single dropping and the Queens native has made a bold statement, claiming the verse of the year is coming. But, according to the Queen, the collab almost didn’t happen.
It appears Nicki Minaj is making every move in 2022 count. After releasing two collabs with Lil Baby, “Bussin” and “Do We Have A Problem,” Nicki Minaj is now ready to drop a new collab with Coi Leray. Nicki had previously denounced any rumors started by Benzino, Leray’s father, but a collaboration is indeed from this Friday.
Both Nicki and Leray posted a photo sharing the news of the upcoming single “Blick Blick.” Leray wrote on the caption, “TRENDSETTERS LOADING…..🌎🆑🔥🔥🔥😈😈😈😈💫💫🆑💖💖💖 My new single “Blick Blick” w| The QUEEN @Nickiminaj 👑 drops this FRIDAY 3/18 💖😈🆑❤️🔥💫🤾🏽🏁 Click The PRE-SAVE Link In My Bio ⏳.”
Nicki took the “rollout” to Twitter where she stated the verse of the year is coming. “Verse of the year is LOADING,” she tweeted. Initially Barbs were excited anticipating to hear Nicki’s verse on “Blick Blick.” Nicki gave some advice to her loyal fans as it pretrains to the “verse of the year.” “And no you won’t be able to learn the verse right away so don’t try. Breath control. Breathe. Meditate. Diction exercises. Do that for the next 4 days. Then maybe, but I can’t make any promithis promithis promithis.”
While answering questions, fans quickly realized that perhaps it is not Nicki, but Coi Leray who has the verse of the year. One Twitter user asked, “Is this the song in the radio interview where you said I think 6 people sent you a song and you heard it and loved it?” To which Nicki replied with, “Yes. I had gotten 6 diff feature requests & it was rlly just the song itself that made me choose. I couldn’t get Coi verse out my head. I just loved all her choices. And someone I know well confirmed she rlly writes her stuff so I respected her more.”

Nicki also revealed she had pulled out from working with Coi Leray after she was involved in drama. “I did pull it. but the label hit me going hard. But rlly I had a private convo w|coi & that’s what changed my mind. Not the label. I just felt bad that she was robbed of telling the world in her own way @ her own time. But that’s water under the bridge now. Good vibes all 2022,” she tweeted Monday afternoon.”
