Speaking with on Angela Scanlon’s Thanks A Million podcast, Lady Leshurr opens up on why she turned down a record deal with Atlantic Records. The label offered Leshurr a $352,000 deal in return for her to make a diss record against Nicki Minaj. Not one to launch unprovoked attacks on other females, the UK rapper declined the offer. She said: “That to me is just so cringey. It turns my stomach thinking about it. I like to be in my own zone, in my own lane, minding my own business and doing what makes me happy, never trying to pull people down in the process.”

As a result of turning down the $352,000 deal, Lady Leshurr admitted that she cried while on the flight home. She realized the amount of money on the table could have bought her mother a house. Moreover, the decision to not diss Nicki Minaj certainly went in her favor. A couple of years later, the US rapper invited Lady Leshurr on tour with her. Reminiscing about her decision to not diss Minaj Leshurr said: “I didn’t know Nicki Minaj then like personally, we never spoke or anything like that. I knew of her come up, I’ve seen her journey, and I just thought she was amazing.”

Furthermore, not wanting to limit her talents to music, Lady Leshurr has turned her hand to television. Starring on Dancing on Ice, along with skating pro Brendyn Hadfield, she is the favorite to win this years series. On her drive, she said: “I’m just trying to push myself. Losing my sister made me realize life’s short and I have to try new things.”
