KRS-One Plans For New Style Tour During Pandemic
Legendary emcee KRS-One has outlined plans for a “new” way of performing during the global Covid-19 pandemic.
A few months ago, in December 2020, Hip Hop pioneer KRS-One released his 23rd album titled Between Da Protests. Now the Bronx native and philosopher brings a master plan to get back to touring and performing to live audiences. Throughout the successful career of KRS-One, fans have enjoyed live performances from “Tha Teacha”. However, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, music artists have not been allowed to perform due to restrictions.
But no stranger to coming up with new ideas having a career spanning over 30 years, KRS-One has spoken about how artists can safely perform in public. Talking with AllHipHop, KRS-One acknowledges that these are very testing times but insists that we can get through the challenges by rising to them. He said: “This is not a time for us to stop thinking, this is a thinking time. This is an intellectual time. You get challenges, not to shirk from them, but to rise to them.”
Following this advice, KRS-One revealed plans to start touring shortly and that people should respect social distancing. Using his experience to come up with new ways of engaging with his audience, KRS-One took the idea of a drive-in theater and applied it to live music. Fans can see the veteran emcee perform his energetic show in the safe place of their cars. He said: “It’s going to be a car tour. Instead of ‘Say Hooooo,’ I am going to say ‘Honk your horn, flash your lights, KRS-One’s about to rock the mic.”
Furthermore, hoping to start his tour in May/June, KRS-One believes that his idea will catch on with other artists. We will bring you more details including dates and locations when they become available.
