Video of a promoter not allowing Kodak Black to perform in “The Big Show” at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit has gone viral.
After being named the G.O.A.T. by Charlamagne, Kodak Black’s performance in Detroit almost did not happen. On Sunday night, Black was scheduled to join Future, Jeezy and Babyface Ray for a performance at Little Caesars Arena. Presented by 97.9 WJLB, Kodak Black was late and had to negotiate for a chance to perform.
As seen in the video shared by Akademiks, the promoter for the show is seen denying Kodak Black his performance due to lateness. “Kodak Black was late to a show in Detroit, but offered to pay the venue to let him perform so the fans wouldn’t get disappointed,” wrote Ak in the caption.
According to a YouTube user who appears to have been at the show on Sunday night, Future was set to perform as the venue closes at 11, not allowing Kodak enough time to entertain the crowd. “Kodak played Detroit,” added the YouTube user in the comments of the video below.
It appears Kodak Black still hit the stage briefly and went on to perform “Super Gremlin,” as seen by footage uploaded by Willy J Peso on YouTube.
Kodak Black’s lateness comes after Charlamagne labeled the rapper “The G.O.A.T.” on a recent episode of Brilliant Idiots podcast. “Kodak is the GOAT,” Charlamagne explained. “I was watching that video and I was thinking to myself like, ‘Man, do people realize how dope Kodak Black is, yo? Not just as a personality, but as a rapper, as an artist. You know these true hip-hop heads will be like ‘Ah, man, you’re talking about Kodak Black…’
“I look at Kodak Black the same way I look at Kendrick Lamar,” he added. “I’m not even joking. I feel like they’re both two different levels of prolific. They’re telling similar stories, just from different places. They’re just two different versions of the same kid from the hood.”
“APPRECIATE EVERYBODY. MEANS SOOOO MUCH TO ME.,” Kodak wrote in the comments section as Akademiks shared the viral clip.
