A month after an epic send off at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn New York, DMX Exodus album is set for May 27th.
Swizz Beatz, Verzuz co-founder and long time friend of the late DMX, will produce the new project as he made the announcement on Monday (May 10th). “My brother X was one of the most pure and rare souls I’ve ever met. He lived his life dedicated to his family and music. Most of all, he was generous with his giving and loved his fans beyond measure. This album, X couldn’t wait for his fans all around the world to hear and show just how much he valued each and every single person that has supported him unconditionally,” Swizz Beatz said in a statement.
As far as features, well many lined up to help X win according to Swizz. Many of which won’t make the Exodus album. Swizz recently spoke with Angie Martinez and revealed who will definitely be featured on the upcoming album. “The thing I love about this is that everybody wanted to be apart of this album to see him win. X wasn’t a man of features. If you go to his albums, there was only The Lox features and different things like that, which we do have on this record. I can say that, because that’s an obvious,” Swizz said.
The album will be released via Dej Jam records where DMX called home for most of his music career. Exodus is set to be DMX’s first but not last posthumous release. According to Swizz Beatz this is where the real work begins as far as making sure DMX legacy lives on.
“He was my big brother. Still is my big brother. I was his little brother. We just always kept a solid relationship, no matter what the business did. No matter what the business did. We always stayed tight up until even his last moment,” Swizz said during an interview with Ebro In The Morning. “We spent the last couple of months together finishing up his project after Verzuz.”
