After a video of Wiz Khalifa trash talking two L.A. DJ’s goes viral, various DJ’s respond back and some are ready to cancel the 34-year-old rapper.
Wiz Khalifia took to the Poppy Night Club in L.A. to promote his newly release album Multiverse (June 29). Artists releasing their latest projects are suppose to be a celebratory occasion, but on this Friday night, things went left.
In the viral clip, Khalifa is seen screaming at DJ Mike Danger and MC Tron in front of those in attendance at the L.A. nightclub. It appears the two DJ’s were not playing any of Wiz new music, as heard on the viral video.
“Bi**h ass n***a, if you wanna fight, n***a we can do it,” Khalifa can be heard saying. “Y’all n***s suck, don’t hug me bitch. Y’all n***as suck. Play my new shit n***a, play it n***a, play ‘Bad Ass Bi**hes.’ Y’all are horrible DJs. I came here tonight to promote for y’all and have a good ass time and have a great time, but you know what I’m not gonna do? I’m not gonna sit here and let these hoe a** n***as act like this sh*t is acceptable. I’m a real ass n***as dawg. My album just came out today. My album just came out today, play my new sh*t dawg,” Khafila said in the viral video.
Kid Capri
The video prompted many within the DJ Community to respond against and in favor of Wiz Khalifa. Including legendary hip hop DJ, Kid Capri.
“When I met you, you was a cool dude, man. That’s why I’m a little surprised why you would disrespect those DJs like that. Those kids is young dudes, probably, you know, scared and nervous that they playing for you, happy that they’re playing for you,” said Capri in the IG video. “I don’t know if you was lit or drunk, or whatever the case may be, but if that was me and you spoke to me like that, I’d have swung on you right away. Immediately. And we would have dealt with it however we’d have to deal with afterwards. But I wouldn’t have went for that.”
OG Ron C
OG Ron C also did not like Wiz Khalifa’s treatment of the two L.A. DJ’s. Ron C took it a step further when days later (August 2) he shared a statement originally posted by DJ Jack Frost. “Houston Concert Promoters Don’t Bring Wiz Khalifa. All DJs Stop Playing His Music That Could Have Been You Or Me. Cancel His Azz.” Ron C captioned the Instagram post, “TOGETHER WE STAND #djsunited”
DJ Rob Swift
DJ Rob Swift of the X-Ecutioners, also called out Wiz on Instagram. “The arrogance from @wizkhalifa towards the house DJs in this video encapsulates the puffed up sense of importance from a lot of you rappers. I don’t know what it is about holding a microphone to your mouth that gives rappers like @wizkhalifa a sense of grandiosity but let me be the first one to say, I’ve sat behind the scenes with many of y’all and I see right through the act. Most of y’all are insecure, can’t fight and none of y’all are killers, that’s for sure!,” Swift wrote in a lengthy IG caption. “With the recent awareness surrounding Mental Health, I’d be interested in reading a study comparing the level of mental illness among rappers like @wizkhalifa versus their DJ counterparts. I’d bet my savings account rappers like @wizkhalifa would win that battle! Rappers like @wizkhalifa have this false sense of entitlement. They require more admiration from fans than these IG models.”
Bootleg Kev
Not everyone agrees Wiz Khalifa should be cancelled. Bootleg Kev who was present at the Poppy Night Club, took to Twitter defending Wiz. “Let’s clear up this Wiz shi*,” he tweeted. “I was there with him, & the dj & host TERRIBLE. After f**king up his performance (4-5x) he finally snapped. I’m not condoning him slapping the hat off or none of that, and I know he regrets that. But so much led up to that point.”
“Let’s be clear, what should have happened was after the 2nd or 3rd f**k up he drops the mic and stops performing. What happened wasn’t cool! That’s a fact. Nobody is disputing that,” Kev said in another tweet.

DJ Envy
Another vet within the hip hop community and co-host of The Breakfast Club, DJ Evny, also chimed in on the matter.
“Wiz was completely wrong, I think. But, I would also say, Wiz is not that guy. We’ve all known Wiz in this industry for a long time. I would like to hear why? What prompted that,” Envy said “They were saying that, they were playing his music. They was playing two songs on top of each other so it was making his music sound bad. He asked them to play his new single and they played old stuff. I think he’s gonna explain it…. but he’s still wrong for approaching the DJs. It could have been handled differently.”
