During a recent interview on Akademiks’ ‘Off The Record’ podcast, Flavor Flav says he was spending $2400 daily on crack. DJ Envy says cap.
Member of the hip hop legendary group, Public Enemy, Flavor Flav claims he was on heavy crack addiction and kept it under wraps for years. Hip Hop’s ultimate hype man first revealed his addiction in 2011 in his book Flavor Flav: The Icon The Memoir.
During his recent interview on Akademiks‘ ‘Off The Record‘ podcast, Flav detailed how much money he was spending on a daily basis. “There was a time that I was spending $2,400 to $2,600 a day… for six years straight, you do the math,” he said. “That’s how much I spent on drugs.”
Flav admitted he sold a lot of his drugs, but also dubbed himself as his “best customer.” “I ain’t gonna lie, I sold a lot. But I was my best customer … I had a lot of money at the time too, I was just doing the wrong things with my money,” Flav recalled.
His daily spending on crack has been a hot topic and was talked about on a recent segment of The Breakfast Club‘s ‘Rumor Report.’ As special guest co-host Linnethia Monique “NeNe” Leakes reported on Flav’s claims of spending $2400 a day, DJ Envy wasn’t “buying” it.
Immediately Envy said, “cap”.” Envy” and questioned the exact figures. “2400 a month. 900,000 a year,” said Envy before congratulating the 63-year-old as he celebrated 6 years clean. “Shoutout to Flavor Flav. We need to get Flavor up here one time.”
Flav also stated he is thankful for still being alive, saying God wanted him to use his voice to teach others not to make the same mistakes.
