CJ Kicks Off The New Year With The Release of “Gangsta”

CJ is back in the booth with his new song “Gangsta,” in preperation of new beginnings and new music in 2023.

Returng back with his new joint partnership with AWAL Recordings (SONY)/Cruz Control, CJ is now fully independent and taking control of his career, which is the new definition of GANGSTA.

After the success of his double platinum hit “Whoopty” and collaborating with the likes of Anuel AA, Ozuna, El Alfa, Busta Rhymes, DreamDoll, and more, CJ began a new chapter in his life becoming a father; which we get a glimpse into on the single artwork.

With many unfortunate events happening in hip-hop, CJ wanted to be present for his son in helping to raise him.

But now, CJ is back and as focused as ever.  “Gangsta” typically pays ode to omerta, the street code of silence, CJ wants to shine a light on the new meaning of “Gangsta” which is taking care of your family, going to school, being a standup individual, and holding down your responsibilities. Which nowadays is often lost.

Despite taking time off to focus on fatherhood, CJ has not lost a step as over 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify has the Staten Island native hungry for more.

“I TOOK A YEAR OFF TO RAISE MY SON & BE A FATHER.. TO ME THAT’S “GANGSTA” A MAN WHO PROVIDES,PROTECTS & SACRIFICES FOR HIS FAMILY IS GANGSTA 💯 WHAT’S “GANGSTA” TO YOU?! OUT NOW 🔥🔥, he wrote on his IG.

This “Gangsta” movement has been fully supported, kicking off on New York airwaves, with Funk Flex placing bombs over it for two weeks now on Hot 97.

CJ is also coming off his featured spot on French Montana and DJ Drama’s “Coke Boy 6: Money Heist Edition,” on the track “Big Dog Status.”

Aside from releasing a project later this year, the 26-year-old is also focusing on Hollywood. This past September, CJ had lunch with Mark Wahlberg in Italy. The meeting resulted in Mark dubbing CJ as the next superstar, sharing the rapper on a post to his 20.6 million followers on Instagram.
