Tupac’s Debut Album Inspires New Funko Pop! Album Figure
Funko Pop! Album series is now paying tribute to Tupac’s debut album ‘2Pacalypse Now’ as they feature him on their newest series collection.
The new Tupac Funko Pop! Album figure features ‘Pac dressed up in a black jeans and sneakers while rocking a matching jacket and cap. Gold chain, white T-shirt and gold rings complete the must have Pop! figure.
“Funko’s Pop! Albums line focuses on the most popular albums from the present to the classics of yesteryear, and we knew Tupac’s legendary 2Pacalypse Now had to be next to get the Funko treatment,” Funko’s General Manager of Hardlines Doug Oglesby tells iHeartRadio. “We wanted to pay homage to this ground-breaking album, so this highly-anticipated collectible features the original cover artwork and the iconic Tupac Shakur himself decked out in his signature gold jewelry in traditional Funko Pop! stylization.”
Tupac Funko Pop! Album figure is currently available via Walmart for pre-order and is set to ship later this year December. Along with the Tupac figure, the collectible item will also come with the ‘2Pacalypse Now’ album cover packaged in a protective case.
Released in 1991, ‘2Pacalypse Now’ peaked at number 64 on the Billboard 200. Social issues facing American society, such as racism, police brutality, poverty, black on black crime, and teenage pregnancy, were all covered by Tupac’s lyrics on the 13-track debut album. The classic ‘Brenda’s Got A Baby’ was also featured on the album.
This wouldn’t be the first time Tupac is figured as a Pop! figure. Tupac’s Thug Life era and his Death Row days were celebrated via the Pop! Rocks series. Last summer, the “Loyal To The Game” figure, paid tribute to Tupac’s 2004 posthumous release. (New Tupac Funko Pop “Loyal To The Game”)
The series has previously featured Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter III as well as The Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready To Die and Life After Death.
